March 2020

Early in the month, I worked with Sherry Heinly and Reinaldo Cozzo at Weidmuller to create content for a lead generation initiative. This content – 3 Key Considerations when Choosing an Industrial Power Supply for Process Systems – can be accessed through the link provided.

I will admit I had been feeling lackadaisical about news of the coronavirus in those early weeks, until the evening of March 12th, when suddenly my understanding of what was happening became very real and very serious. Within days, I wrote a couple pieces to address different audiences: Dealing with Disruption: A Response to the Coronavirus and Social Messaging During Times of Crisis.

Y’all know how much I love coffee, but beer is a close second when it comes to enjoying beverages. Writing this story was so much fun because I got to tell a story about stuff I’m passionate about – beer and pumps! Read Epiphany Craft Malt: Engineered to provide flavorful and consistent craft beers.

Let’s talk about energy efficiency in the HVAC industry and the recent regulations that have been issued by the U.S. DOE. I had the great fortune to interview experts at Armstrong Fluid Technology, among them Roger Halligan, CEO, and Steve Lane, Communications Specialist. After interviewing them and conducting some research, I wrote the following article as a ‘ghost-writer’: Can We Do Better? Understanding the U.S. Department of Energy Regulations.

The Detloffs went to Disney!

In November 2019, the entire Detloff family went to the happiest place on Earth! This is a big deal for me, personally, because I grew up in a poor family that scarcely had money for necessities, let alone a trip to Disney World. I had never been there and was super excited to share my first time there with my daugher, Zoe, and my twin sister, Cara – none of us had had the Disney experience. It may sound sorta funny that ‘going to Disney’ was such a personal milestone for me. “Finally, I made it.” In my mind, I made it not just to a physical place, but to a higher economic standing. Finally, I was part of the ‘middle class’.
